Hearing Protection, Swim Plugs & Sleep Plugs
Whether your custom earmolds are designed for hearing protection, in-ear monitors or getting a good night’s sleep, they are made to fit the precise shape of your ear to ensure maximum effectiveness and total comfort. Most plugs are available in a variety of colors and patterns.
Custom Hearing Protection
Benjamin Franklin got it right when he said “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Just as you would take preventative measures to protect yourself from heart disease or diabetes, it pays to protect yourself from occupational hearing loss and hearing problems caused by exposure to loud music, power motors, and sport weapons.
People exposed to 90-120 dB sound levels for various time periods are prime candidates for custom hearing protection. Construction workers, emergency responders, hunters, dental hygenists, motorcycle riders, musicians, sound crews, recording engineers, DJ’s, nightclub employees and other music industry professionals are frequently exposed to these sound levels. Those in the music industry, including concert goers will also benefit from hearing protection devices. Proper hearing protection may decrease your risk for acquiring noise induced hearing loss.
Hunting – For hunters, hearing is a vital component of the sport. It is used to locate game, connect with your hunting pack, or even to listen for road noise to find your way back to your vehicle. Hunter earplugs have filters that instantaneously close when damaging noise levels are reached while allowing for essentially normal hearing at other times. These plugs allow you to keep up with the sounds you want to hear in your environment while protecting your hearing from gunshot blasts.
Shooting – Up to 50% of all recreational shooters may suffer some degree of hearing loss of some kind. It is generally thought that loud noises in excess of 90 decibels are harmful to hearing over prolonged exposure. Most gunfire exceeds 130 decibels and requires reliable, quality hearing protection. Custom ear protection can prevent needless and permanent damage to hearing.
Music – Music plugs are ideal for performing musicians and concert goers; they are extremely low-profile and designed to protect hearing while preserving all the subtleties and richness of music. Also great for flight attendants, bartenders, waiters, dental professionals. By replicating the natural response of the ear canal, the quality of music and speech reproduced through these earplugs sounds as it would if you were not wearing a hearing protection device. These custom molds allow the wearer to hear sounds accurately but at reduced (safer) volume levels. These come with 3 filter options: 9dB, 15dB or 25dB.
Communication Radio Compatible – Earmolds that can be connected to a radio. These are great for law enforcement, security officer, or newscasters.
Industrial/Recreational Protection – Loud, constant sounds all day long at work can cause long-term hearing problems. Loud, sudden noises (industrial noises, woodworking, motorcycles, loud music, motorized lawn equipment, noisy hobbies and other noises louder than 90 db) are more damaging to hearing than regular and extended exposure to loud sounds over a period of time. When worn consistently, custom earplugs can significantly reduce loud noises and prevent hearing damage and loss.
Custom Swim Plugs
Custom swim plugs are highly recommended for individuals with chronic ear infections, individuals with tympanostomy (PE/pressure equalizing) tubes and individuals with other ear-related health concerns.
Whether you are worried about ear infections or simply dislike the sensation of water in your ears, swim plugs are a quick and easy solution. Our Audiologist can help you select a pair of swim plugs, from an assortment of fun colors, just right for you.
Custom Sleep Plugs
Sleep plugs are designed to block out the noise you don’t want to hear. Sleep plugs help block out most (or all) of the sound of a snoring partner or construction noise from down the street, but they won’t prevent you from hearing the fire alarm in case of an emergency.
